Trails of LIGHT

Not often one comes across an art installation in Penang.  Not at a conventional gallery but at the refurbished Whiteaways Arcade in George Town. Part of the George Town Festival 2012.

Innovative use of materials to convey ideas of the organisers - LUMA (Lighting Up the Media Arts).

And canvases for audience to write their comments at the end of the trail....

Exhibition of Shoko Lee

 27 June 2012 - visited the Penang State Art Gallery to view the artworks of this Japanese lady artist, now Malaysian. I like her drawings of nature - very humanized.

 

Her oil paintings of dragons and horses are full of energy.

The use of colours enhance the ink strokes and spaces.

The wall sculpture were created using PVC,wood and acrylic paint. Very vibrant colours.

Van Gogh Alive

One can easily immersed in the Van Gogh Alive Exhibition in the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

Surrounded by larger-than-life high-definition projections, i can simply sit in the gallery space for hours enjoying this feast which is a fusion of art and audio-visual technology.

Van Gogh's paint strokes - so full of energy and power coming alive on the giant multi screens. 

Art Installation at OldKallang Airport 2011

A barn in an old hangar.

Singapore Biennale 2011

I was most impressed by Michael Lee's installation, Office Orchitect, at the Old Kallang Airport as part of the Singapore Biennale 2011 Open House.

Models made from cut card, layered to create the structures.  They were quite innovative.

This model was my personal favourite.  It does resemble a real building in Singapore.  Know the one I mean?
