Penang - Relau now and then

Penang - my home town I adopted since 2010 is rapidly developing. I missed capturing the fast changing landscapes in  Singapore in the last 20 over years. Now, Penang is undergoing a similar development process. So, I decide to start posting the changing scenes of Penang, starting from my neighbourhood.
1997 - panoramic view from the balcony of my flat in Relau..
2012 - same view but the scene has changed.
A mixture of low-rise and high-rise residential blocks. Less greenery.

PISA - Penang International Sports Arena completed in 2000. In recent years, it has become a popular venue for exhibitions, trade fairs and cultural performances.
Work started in early 2012 to transform PISA to sPICE - Subterranean Penang International Convention and Exhibition Centre with retail and F&B outlets, a hotel and a roof top green park.
Can't wait to take photos of sPICE.

early 2009 - Towards the west of my flat. Three years later,  the scene has been transformed. More houses and shops. Gone are the farms.
