NZ Travelogue Day 32 to 33

Hawke's Bay - Napier

The morning started with a long drive of about 320km from Wellington to our next destination: Napier. After our arrival around 5pm we had a short walk along the Marine Parade, and a quick tour of the town centre which was like a ghost town.

Our first morning in Napier: a visit to the Saturday's Farmer's market, a walk in Clive Square, and around the town centre. The town came alive, bustling with activities and people.
The Square, near the market was full of people, old and young enjoying the sunshine. And musical notes from a bell structure played at half hourly intervals.

Although surrounded by various colourful flowers, I was attracted by this Lotus pond in Clive Square.

There is so much variety of buildings with interesting design and colours.
It reminded me of the Straits Peranakan shophouses.

David bought some stuff for our doll house decoration from a craft shop along  this row.

An afternoon walk along the Marine Parade to a nearby village, Ahuriri, past the Port of Napier taking in the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, and then back to Napier town centre via Sharespeare Road - a 3-hour on foot including a coffee break.
Along the way, we passed many residential houses of  the Victorian style.
